A Study Comparing a Healthy Beef-Centric Diet to a Healthy U.S.-Style Diet in a Metabolic Syndrome and/or Pre-Diabetic Population
The study will involve a total of 4 visits to our clinic (located in Guelph, Ontario) and 1 phone call visit over a 5-10 weeks. If you complete the study in its entirety, you will receive up to $400 for study completion, as well as up to $750 for diet allowance during the treatment period.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of a healthy beef-centric diet on blood pressure, body weight and body mass index, glucose control, quality of life, and blood lipids compared to a healthy U.S-style diet.
You may be eligible if you are:
Between 18 to 74 years old
Have a BMI between 23.0 to 39.9 kg/m2 (inclusive)

Pre-diabetic and/or have metabolic syndrome conditions
Not a habitual nicotine and/or tobacco user

Willing to avoid cannabis and alcohol for certain periods of time during the study
Only a limited amount of spots available.

Participation will include:
- 4 visits to our clinic (located in Guelph, ON) and 1 phone call visit over 5-10 weeks
- Cooking and eating assigned diet for up to 5 weeks
- Daily diary completion for up to 5 weeks
- Wearing a blood sugar sensor twice for up to 12 days
- Fasting for at least 12 hours prior to 3 in-clinic visits
- Multiple blood draws at 3 in-clinic visits
