Kava and Kratom Study

A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study to Assess the Effects of an Investigational Herbal Supplement Containing Kava Extract and Kratom Leaf Powder on Self-Reported Stress and Pharmacokinetic Profile in Healthy Adults

There are 2 portions to this study, the Main Group and Sub Group. You can not participate in both groups. The Main Group will consist of a total of 8 visits to our clinic (located in Guelph, ON) and 1 remote phone call over a 13-week period. The Sub Group will consist of a total of 15 visits to our clinic (located in Guelph, ON) and 1 remote phone call over a 13-week period. If you complete the study in its entirety, compensation will be $2,000 (Main Group) and $5,600 (Sub Group) for your time and travel to the clinic.

The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of the test product on self-reported stress compared to the placebo.

Only a limited amount of spots available.

You may be eligible if you:

Are between 21 to 55 years old

Have a BMI between 18.5 to 29.9 kg/m²

Are in good general health

Have self-reported stress

Are not taking any prescription medications (excluding hormonal birth control)

Kava and Kratom Study

Participation will include:

Oral consumption of study product (liquid formulation)
Multiple blood draws, urine sample collections, and saliva sample collections
