Resistant Starch Gut Health Study

A Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-Controlled, Parallel-Group Study to Evaluate the Effects of Resistant Potato Starch on the Gut Microbiota Composition in Healthy Adults Ages 18-69

The study will involve a total of 3 visits to our clinic (located in Guelph, Ontario) over a 6-8 week period. If you complete the study in its entirety, compensation will be $450 for your time and travel to the clinic.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Resistant Potato Starch on the gut microbiome, gastrointestinal symptoms, overall well-being, and stool form and frequency compared to a placebo.

You may be eligible if you are:

Between 18 to 69 years old

In good general health

Have a BMI between 18.0 to 34.9 kg/m2 (inclusive)

Willing to follow all restrictions throughout the study

Willing to maintain consistent dietary, lifestyle, and medication usage/habits

Participation will include:
  • 3 visits to our clinic (located in Guelph, ON) over a 6-8 week period
  • Oral consumption of study product for 4 weeks
  • Daily diary completion for 6 weeks
  • Collection of stool samples on 2 occasions
